Your survey is coming up! Below are some fun and effective ideas for getting residents or employees to take the survey. Shoot for 100% participation to send the message that every voice matters.

1. Recruit a few employees or residents to serve as survey ambassadors responsible for promoting the survey, encouraging participation, and providing fun daily reminders to participate. Give them special t-shirts to wear while the survey is live.

2. Set up the survey process like an election. Participants can take the survey at an electronic kiosk or drop their paper survey into a voting box. Hand out MY VOICE HAS BEEN HEARD stickers as participants exit the voting area.

3. Have a special kickoff event on survey launch day with snacks and beverages. Formally invite attendees to take the survey by handing them an invitation with the survey link printed on it or a paper survey packet.

3. Provide a small giveaway to everyone who takes the survey, like branded promotional items or a themed treat like a candy bar that says “Enjoy this treat while you take your survey.”

4. Have raffle contests for folks who take the survey. You can have one big raffle or a number of smaller ones throughout the survey administration period. CLICK HERE for a bonus list of raffle prize ideas.

6. Hold a survey drop-off party one week into the process where residents or employees show the thank you page from their submitted online survey or their sealed paper survey as admission to the party.

7. Hold a competition between floors or wings for the highest participation rate.  Alternatively, set a goal for the entire community to reach 90% participation or higher. Reward winners with a party like an ice cream social, barbeque, or live music event.

8. Display a promotional banner or posters in the community while the survey is live reminding residents or employees to take the survey.

9. Display a large temperature gauge in a prominent area of the community that is filled in daily with the latest participation rate. Set the goal at 100%. Announce daily progress using mass communication outlets like team huddles, resident TVs, an intercom, or digital communication board.

10. MOST IMPORTANT! Let your employees and residents know that you value their feedback. Tell them that the survey results will be shared with them and most importantly that improvements will be made based on the feedback received.

Happy surveying!
